MiniSAS Cables power to enable active cables and EEPROM

This 1/2 meter long cable uses 30 AWG wires and is intended for internal use. It has a single 36-pin SFF-8087 male Mini-SAS plug (with locking latch) on one end and has four 7-pin SATA female plugs (with locking latches) on the other, allowing you to connect four SATA drives to an SAS controller. This is a Forward Breakout cable, meaning that it is intended to connect to a host/controller on the SAS end and to drives on the SATA end.Several forward-looking solutions were adopted to ensure future enhanced connectivity. MiniSAS Cables(high-density) connector was chosen for next generation interconnects (including the 12 Gb/s data rate to be defined in the upcoming SAS-3.0 tandard), which had provisions for power to enable active cables and EEPROM for management. All these solutions, however, still did not address the large number of MiniSAS Cables interconnects deployed in the field which were limited to the 10m passive copper reach. Despite distinct benefits offered QSFP-H40G-CU1M – Compatible Cisco 40GbE QSFP+ QDR Direct-Attach Copper Cable 1m by SAS to OEM’s, integrators and end users, the technology has been somewhat curtailed by the limited reach of supported copper cabling.
